Charity Garden Makeover For Four Year Old Seb
Last night you may have seen a story on Seven Sharp about young Seb, and the involvement of the Canterbury branch of the Registered Master Landscapers and Hell Pizza Satan’s Little Helper programme.
We have been fortunate to work on an amazing project for four year old Seb and his mum Caroline who have had a real tough time recently. Seb has a rare, life-threatening condition which has been treated with chemotherapy, however the treatment means his immune system is severely compromised so he has had to be isolated from other kids his age. Caroline contacted the Satan’s Little Helper programme to help provide Seb with somewhere to play as their backyard was in a pretty rough state.
The journey kicked off when Roger Morgan from Readylawn Christchurch highlighted Seb’s story through the Hell’s Pizza ‘satans little helper’ article in the Registered Master Landscapers New Zealand landscape magazine at one of our Regional catch up’s. After he mooted the idea of banding together to help out, it took no time at all for a crew of Canterbury RML members to raise their hands to be involved in the design, planning, sourcing, suppling, construction, and planting.
Over an amazing week this project was completed, a huge transformation in such a short timeframe……with the icing on the cake seeing Seb playing full steam in his sandpit, walking over the stepping logs and rocks, running around his lawn, scootering everywhere and the emotion seen in Caroline with what had been constructed on-site in a week!
This project wouldn’t have been achieved without the support from our preferred material suppliers Intelligro, Baier Group, Urban Paving, Readylawn Christchurch, Permacolour Christchurch, Freeman Irrigation Ltd, Southern Woods Tree Nursery, GroundWork who generously donated their products and services, and all of the legend Landscape Contractors Gill Landscapes, Onlandscapes, Greenscapes and www.Londonlandscapes.co.nz who took time away from their own hectic schedules and workload at one of the busiest times in the landscape calendar to build this garden for Caroline and Seb……we have a pretty awesome RML group here in Canterbury……thanks for making our design look so good!!
